Portraits

Some of the pics I took of Madelene this summer :) (click on the photos for better quality)

on the web

Yesterday, the very nice Charlotte Østby Sundberg called me, and wanted to write a story about my exhibition in the local newspaper, Verdalingen. Today the story is online!

Have a GREAT weekend! :)

The date is set!

Have finally set the date for opening my exhibition at Vivaldi! Opening night is february 1st at 21.00 o’clock.

Hope to see you all there!

Prints: done!

Picked up my prints today, so happy with the result! They look amazing, can’t wait to put them up on the wall at Vivaldi :)

Also got to take the test-print home with me *happy camper*

Printing

Just got back from Fotoimport, where I’m printing my photos for the exhibition. Picking them up tomorrow, this is going to be AWESOME!

Weekend snack

Every single day there’s about 10-15 people who google “Thomas Albertsen Dahlen nude” who visits my blog. Seriouslu guys? EVERY day?!

So, this is for all you giggling girls (and boys?) who google that name every day. This is some of the photos I took of Thomas in February last year (right after he was on Jan Thomas’ show “Happy day”), but haven’t been posted on this blog until now.

Things

Getting a little tired of just doing big projects (have one coming up in the end of february), so thought I’d just take some pics for fun for a coupple of days. Shooting a friend of mine this saturday :) Today I had to settle for stills of the girlie stuff in my room:

The two in the middle are of things I bought in Morocco. Almost a year ago now, seems like a month ago!

Todays inspiration

Saw this editorial by Matthew Pandolfe today, I love it!! “The sitting” is just up my alley. I’m always looking for male models, if you think you’ve got what it takes, please contakt me :)

Files vs. prints

Most people want prints to hang on their walls when they go to a photographer to take photos of their family etc., and I think most people don’t know the advantages of getting the photo-files instead of a print. Let me break it down for you in pros and cons:

Pros:
- with files, you can use the photos everywhere. Nowadays, people want the photos on the internet, not on their walls, so by getting the photo-file, you can share the pic with the whole world (with the photographers blessing of course), not just the people you get in to your home.
- with files, you don’t have to choose right away what photo you want, and in what size you want the print.
- with files, you can make just about anything with the photo. Albums, wallpaper, poster, birthdaycards or put it in a frame.
- there is no big expences if you decide to print more of the photos later, because you’re the owner of the file.

Cons:
- different printers print in differen qualities, you might end ut with bad quality if you choose the wrong type of printer.
- price. Different dealers have different prices, and some take a lot more than others (ask your photographer if he/she can recommend someone).
- you might delete the files, the responsibility is yours (if you don’t get the files on a cd/dvd, always take proper backup).

The main thing you should think of before choosing one or the other, is that if you get the files, the price you pay will be the last you pay to the photographer. They will not require more money, because you have gotten the photos, end of story. A dealer who only sells prints will be able to take twice the price (or more?) if you come back after a month and want another print.
So sure, photographers who only deliver files might seem expensive at first, but in the long run, that is what pays off.

And at last, but not least: photographers who work solo very often have other influences than studio-photographers who work with a dealer. They usually work harder to make something different that what “everybody has” and do the extra effort to deliver something unique.

We can’t speak

Finally posting my latest project. Have been working on this since november, but have had it all planned in my head for many many months. Thanks to my lovely models (H & Merethe) and assistants (Caroline Indiane Brodshaug & Sara Holshagen).

I had a lot of fun working on this! Both by making the “outfits” and by doing the photos.
